Learn Spanish with me at the Bosque Village!

raul teaching classes

Imagine taking Spanish courses in the middle of a beautiful forest in Mexico...

Welcome to my language learning website! I offer classes and language exchange to people traveling through Mexico who want to improve their Spanish skills. I've worked with a variety of abilities from beginner to advanced. My classes are intensive and productive, while staying friendly and fun.

You'll learn Spanish while traveling in a sustainable way. The Bosque Village is off the grid - a great destination for travelers interested in eco tourism.

Classes
I recommend that students interested in studying Spanish sign up for a minimum of two weeks. Depending on the number of people, class size will range from 1-5 students. Since class sizes will be small, it will be easy to help you work at a pace that is suitable for you!

Aside from the weekly classes, I am usually available for language exchange, short courses on Spanish for travelers, and translation services. Prior appointments are mandatory.

I am not an official language school, and I cannot provide students with any certificates or diplomas after taking a course from me. Students should, however, be prepared to study and take my classes seriously. I'm very interested in working with people who truly want to learn Spanish.

Location
My classes are held at the Bosque Village, an ecological retreat space in the Mexican highlands. When you are not in class, the Bosque activity list will keep you busy! From archery and volleyball to mural painting or wood carving, there is always something to do. There are also times for relaxing in hammocks, watching birds, enjoying the views, and eating the great vegetarian food.

The atmosphere at the Bosque Village encourages creativity, learning, and acceptance. Whatever your language abilities, at the Bosque you will feel comfortable to practice and make mistakes as you work to improve. You will also have the opportunity to take classes in paper-making, bookbinding, tortilla and salsa making, photography, and more.

We're close to Pátzcuaro and Morelia, so day trips to visit these colonial cities are easy to do.

About MeRaúl Vélez
I am a native Spanish speaker originally from Mexico City. I have been teaching Spanish for years, and have been offering lessons to many of my friends and acquaintances who want to become better at Spanish speaking, comprehension, and writing.

I've been living at the Bosque Village since March, 2009. Permaculture and living with nature are of great interest to me. I have a diploma for Ecological Economics from the University of Buenos Aires, I have taken a courses on non-violence from Greenpeace, and I have a certificate in Permaculture Design from the Institute of Permaculture in Argentina.

I studied law at UNAM and can help students who want to improve their legal vernacular.

In my free time I love to write songs, play guitar, write articles, and I'm working on a novel.

Student testimonial:

From Alexandra, USA:
I came to the Bosque with many years of experience studying Spanish grammar but without the ability to hold a steady, fluid conversation.  After a two week stay with language lessons from Raul, I left the Bosque and continued my travels in Mexico, confidently conversing in Spanish.  This is the best I have ever felt about my language skills, and my lessons with Raul took me to a whole new ability and confidence level.  The lessons were fun, effective, and there couldn't be a more beautiful setting for them.  I seriously recommend the Bosque and Raul to anyone for Spanish studies, regardless of skill level, and I met several other guests during my stay who feel the same.
