Rules
Yuck! We don't like rules, either. However, out of consideration for other attendees and the forest, we ask that all attendees follow our rules.
Bring this stuff:
- Check out the packing list, and make sure you are prepared (have a tent, warm blankets, a plate and cup, a headlamp or flashlight, etc). Don't rely on other attendees to provide you with stuff you need to be comfortable! There is no store nearby to purchase forgotten items.
- A water bottle. We will provide water, but you'll need somewhere to put it.
- Costumes and cool stuff! Colorful things! Musical instruments. No drums please.
- A positive and friendly attitude! The energy emanating from you will contribute to the energy of Cumbre Yah!. We will all try hard to provide each other with an accepting, friendly, positive atmosphere.
Don't bring this stuff:
- Cigarettes.
- Please do not bring unhealthy food to share.
- Dogs/cats/pets. There are dogs here who love to play with humans, but do not like other dogs.
- Glowsticks. Popular at Burning Man and other festivals, but not welcome here. Consider an LED headlamp instead.
- Electrical devices- we have limited electricity! Leave your hair dryer at home. Some camps have spots to charge your phone and camera batteries during day light hours.
- A negative attitude.
Other rules and things:
- No smoking.
- No fireworks.
- No drugs. Alcohol is fine.
- All instruction, events, and activities are free to participants. Folks who want to sell stuff should see our vending page.
- Don't feed the dogs.
- If you are a group leader, we must know prior to the event if someone drops out of or joins your group.
- Do not walk off trails. There are spots set aside for trampling so we can play frisbee, etc.
- Do not gather firewood from the forest. Firewood is provided in specific locations.
- Do not start a fire unless you have prior approval.
- Fire spinning is allowed only in approved areas only due to high risk of forest fires.
- Be careful with candles. They are a tool, not a toy.
- Upon arrival, drive to the parking location nearest your campsite. Do not drive your car during the event.
- Do not litter.
- No amplified music. Seriously.
- Please respect the forest and the other attendees.
